Tate no Kago / Yoko no Kago

These pieces were created with the concept of extracting a single “pixel” from the Basket That Cannot Hold. The version with a single horizontal weave is called Yoko no Kago (Horizontal Basket), while the one without it is Tate no Kago (Vertical Basket).
They may not be highly practical, but they do retain the essential qualities of a basket. While small objects may slip through the gaps, they can still function as baskets for slightly larger items—each is sized to hold a single apple.
They also pair beautifully with KAKI’s brass insert to be used as a vase, and go well with air plants and other greenery.
